IF WE ARE EACH REBORN AS A TREE AFTER DEATH

WE WILL LEAVE BEHIND URBAN FOREST INSTEAD OF CEMETERIES

''The desire to find solace in nature has led humans to elect trees

as the symbol of relentless rebirth, a constant renwal of life''.

Simon Schama, Landscape & Memory

I AM A TREE is a universal project that concerns every large city where lack of space, worsening air quality and related concerns for public health, compounded with a rapidly increasing acceptance of cremation, forces a rethinking of traditional burial solution towards a new architectural and landscaping approach. The project grasps opportunities to reclaim wasteland and support restoration of biodiversity in strongly anthropic systems through the design of new green spaces dedicated to the dead, but planned for the living.

I AM A TREE introduces a new culture regarding cemeteries and the practices connected to death, it is a city park open to everyday use where trees mark the burial sites of ecological and biodegradable urns. It is a vital space conceived for citizens who are called to protect and respect it, where multiple religions can live together with respect and in memory of those who are no longer among us.

I AM A TREE is a sustainable urban project envisaged for air quality improvement and water runoff control that reduces land take and soil sealing, counteracts religious and ethnic differences and teaches respect of nature as part of the common good.

I AM A TREE is an urban reforesting project that follows the UN protocol, 2030 Agenda
