The spiral is a geometric figure present in all cultures: a line that wraps around itself, making manifest and prolonging the circular movement from the point to infinity. In terms of spirituality, the symbol of the spiral represents the path that the soul takes in its infinite evolution and for this reason it is considered a symbol of eternal life and expression of the journey after death.
A garden formed by a series of spirals given by the arrangement of the trees, the shape of the seat and the design of the pavement. The whole design leads to a central point represented by a camphor tree, also called Tree of Life, which is accessed through a path that tends to open forming a small square. This resting place, shaded by the large central tree in summer, is characterized by a pavement of two colors, Carrara white and Bardiglio gray and a red seat, also in the shape of a spiral. The rest of the garden is covered with grass. The trees are lined up in a circular pattern and change species as the coils grow. Due to the small size of the project area, only second- and third-dimensional columnar trees (H 15-20 m and max H 10 but maturity) were taken into consideration, with the exception of cypresses and holm oaks pruned in shape cylindrical. Three evergreen species: Cinnamomum camphora, Cupressus sempervirens and Quercus ilex and three stripping species: Ginkgo biloba fastigiata ‘Blagon’, Prunus serrulata ‘Amagonawa’ and Pyrus calleryana ‘Chanticleer’ characterized by leaves that change color in the autumn season. Noteworthy are the abundant and extremely decorative spring blooms of Japanese cherry and flowering pear.
